CHENNAI PETROLEUM Share Price Up by 5%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 0.5%

CHENNAI PETROLEUM share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 97.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS Index is at 14,332 (up 0.5%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS Index today is CHENNAI PETROLEUM (up 5.1%).

IOC (down 0.3%) and OIL INDIA (down 0.3%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, CHENNAI PETROLEUM has moved down from Rs 118 to Rs 97, registering a loss of Rs 21 (down 18.0%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS has moved down from 14,951 to 14,332, loss of 619 points (down 4.5%) during the last 12 months.

The top buzzing stocks among the BSE OIL & GAS Index stocks during this same period were RELIANCE IND. (up 30.4%) and INDRAPRASTHA GAS (up 17.2%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 45,729 (up 0.6%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are ULTRATECH CEMENT (up 2.5%), RELIANCE IND. (up 2.4%) and HCL TECHNOLOGIES (up 2.0%). Other gainers include MARUTI SUZUKI (up 1.8%) and INFOSYS (up 1.0%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are ONGC and SBI.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 13,435 (up 0.6%). The top gainers in the NSE Nifty include ULTRATECH CEMENT (up 2.4%), RELIANCE IND. (up 2.4%) and UPL (up 2.2%). Other gainers include HCL TECHNOLOGIES (up 2.2%) and MARUTI SUZUKI (up 1.6%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 40,850 to 45,729, registering a gain of 4,879 points (up 11.87%).

CHENNAI PETROLEUM Financial Update...

CHENNAI PETROLEUM net profit stood at Rs 3 billion for the quarter ended September 2020, compared to a profit of Rs 64 million a year ago. Net Sales declined 18.7% to Rs 97.3 billion during the period as against Rs 119.7 billion in July-September 2019.

For the year ended March 2018, CHENNAI PETROLEUM reported 12.1% decrease in net profit to Rs 9.0 billion compared to net profit of Rs 10.2 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 8.8% to Rs 442 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of CHENNAI PETROLEUM, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at down 1.3x.
