BSE Basic Materials Stocks Update
The S&P BSE BASIC MATERIALS Index was at 7,152.3 (up 0.2%). The index is up 9.1% over the last 30 days. And over the last 1 year, it has gained 39.6%.
Within the BSE Basic Materials Index, the top gainers were SESHASAYEE PAPER (up 6.3%) and ANDHRA PAPER (up 5.9%). On the other hand, JINDAL STAINLESS (down 3.0%) and COSMO FIRST (down 2.9%) were among the top losers.

The BSE commodities index comprises constituents of the BSE Allcap index, that are classified under the basic materials or commodities sector.
The basic materials sector includes companies engaged in the discovery, development, and processing of raw materials. The sector includes companies engaged in mining and metal refining, chemical products, and forestry products.
This index was originally known as BSE basic material sector, which was later updated to BSE commodities index.
The index is calculated using a float-adjusted market cap weighted methodology.

For broader tracking, you could use the BSE 200, BSE 500 or even the NSE 500 index.
